Summer solstice update

Happy summer solstice! Here are a few items to note as we officially welcome summer to our community garden:

Giving Garden update and donations: Thank you to everyone who has been helping with the Giving Garden, whether volunteering time in the dedicated plot or donating produce from your own plot. The first deliveries have been made to the Wilson Centre kitchen, with lettuce and other salad fixings. Thank you to Lucie for making the Monday morning delivery to the Wilson Centre and to Denise and Don for donations of lettuce from their plots. For those who would like to donate produce, please place your donation in the green bin in the shed before 8 am on Monday mornings. To avoid spoiling good produce, please time your donation to ensure that it will remain fresh in the bin for a Monday morning delivery. Also, if you are able to help with Monday morning delivery to the Wilson Centre, please let us know so that we can organize backup coverage when needed.

Security reminder: One of our members recently reported being in the garden when a few members of the public entered the garden and helped themselves to berries growing in a few plots. While there was no personal threat with this intrusion, it’s a good reminder to keep the gate locked while you’re in the garden, especially if you’re alone.

Finally, thank you to everyone for keeping the garden looking so beautiful and bountiful: to volunteers who have been mowing, trimming, watering, and weeding, and to members for keeping their plots productive and neat.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
